What We Found Inside
After full disassembly, heavy lint buildup throughout the internal airflow system. Not around the filter, where everyone looks — deeper in:
- internal ducts
- blower housing
- heating chamber
- vent pathways
- packed around electrical components
That’s the part most people don’t picture. The lint filter catches maybe the majority of it. The rest travels, and over years it settles inside the machine where nothing removes it short of taking the dryer apart.
Airflow drops, temperature climbs, the safety systems do their job. From the outside it looks like an electrical fault.
Why Restricted Airflow Costs More Than It Seems
When a dryer can’t breathe:
- the heating element runs hotter than it was designed to, and wears out early
- thermal fuses trip — sometimes repeatedly
- sensors misread temperature and the board starts throwing codes
- every cycle takes longer, so the machine runs more hours for the same laundry

What We Actually Did
Not a surface clean. Full internal disassembly, lint and debris removed from every airflow path and off the components it had packed around, then reassembly and testing.
Result: airflow restored, no more shutdowns, cycles completing normally, drying time back to what it should be.
No control board. No heating element. No parts at all.
What You Can Do Yourself
Three things, none of them require tools:
- Clean the lint filter every single load. Not most loads. Every one.
- Check the exterior vent flap. Run the dryer and go outside — the flap should open with decent airflow behind it. Weak or no airflow means the duct is blocked, and that’s the single most common cause of everything above.
- Pull the dryer out and vacuum the duct where it connects at the wall. Crushed or kinked flexible duct behind the machine is worth straightening while you’re back there.
What that won’t reach is the lint inside the blower housing and heating chamber. That needs the machine apart.
How Often to Have It Cleaned
